old bowlers...the hats and pins of lifeA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoold bowlers...the hats
and pins of life
fossils
of Eve party favors old lips kiss at
midnight the champagne a
non-alcoholic blush
backwards clocks in the
mind tick toward adolescence a youth movement of
aging adults
winding themselves away
from current standing although most are
sitting by this decade of persuasion let's laugh tonight
tomorrow might be
swollen over with cracked tears we are porcelain dreams
with love lines splitting hugging memories as the
ball drops
like old bowlers who can barely make it
to the foul line before their score
collapses them out of their shoes.
