trigger happy

trigger happy

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

trigger happy

the arsenal is fired

all the words sullenly sprayed

you were hit,

hurt

bled out

and years later

i am still living with the guilt

of murdering your heart

my grave is an empty doorway

a blue sky with a patch of red

only i see with distorted emotion

and the barrel still smoking

with regret.

Superbly insightful, self-indicting poem. Murderer, judge and jury all in one man. Love shot through the heart with only “a blue sky with a patch of red” as a witness. Wonderful imagery and metaphor. Regret as a smoking gun- great!

probably my most favorite of yours. the idea that someone is only good or bad, black and white, is too simple. Guilt has never been played into that. i like hearing both sides to a story, especially ones like these. great poem

I believe what goes around comes around, how many hearts will leave us bleeding for years, the past can not be changed but regrets can be released to the forgiving nature of the season, we often do things that are rash, but the people we scar along the way will scar someone else, it is the way of it, we rarely get what we think we want, we always get what we need, what we do to appreciate what we get is up to us. Love this..to me it say forgive oneself and be forgiven or hold it and the wound stays red.

never, but it's cool of you to think so XD
I've known people who haven't spoken for years over words. A punch to the head probably causes less harm. But i suppose it shows you how powerful words are. Wars seem to start over them. They'll be a Chinese proverb for this. But i don't it.

great wisdom in this one says i...once the words are loosed there is no taking back ..ever... we may get some forgiveness ..its the forgetting that lingers ..well said jacob
