forever in the blood

forever in the blood

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

forever in the blood

partial blades

still slice memories into a snow-written mind

Black Eyed Susans absorbed into white conundrums

frozen lake

so still

my thoughts lie upon the ice

inert raft beckoning youthful diatribes

smashing flowers into manure covered fields

electric fences bitterly rust

i can't go back

to the autumn autonomy of then

only imagine you there in the mornings

at breakfast

with maples keeping a close eye

while hammock dreams etched themselves

as background

to the painting of us.

Thank you Jacob - for further defining the memories we have of other and more often better nows than we exist within...

One of the most expressive poets and with immense talent and grasp of language and imagery. Enough said.

The way you pour these bitter sentiments onto the page, I can feel each dripping stroke of the bleak scene as it brings back sensations that will forever be in the blood. I know how this feels *sigh!* Did I wish you a very joyous Christmas season yet? If so, ya can't have too many good wishes! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
