forever in the bloodA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoforever in the blood
partial
blades still slice memories
into a snow-written mind Black Eyed Susans
absorbed into white conundrums
frozen lake so still my thoughts lie upon the
ice inert raft beckoning
youthful diatribes
smashing flowers into
manure covered fields electric fences bitterly
rust
i can't go back to the autumn autonomy
of then
only imagine you there
in the mornings at breakfast with maples keeping a
close eye
while hammock dreams
etched themselves as background to the painting of us.
