A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Poem

you were a lapse in judgment
a scratch on the mental finish
of sightless beginnings

i was the bat,
maneuvering with certain abandon,
chaotic intensity
the feel of your heart, near

i put words to air
dove for the prize
discovered the concrete truth
was closer than i thought

found that endings
predict themselves
pre-flight.

I like this notion you place. You get into a relationship knowing deep within it won't last. But you like to test things but what is destined to fall into the ground will do so....... Because your heart knows what is right and what won't last but we try anyways!!!

Ouch.
Going for the literal.
Slamming into the wall.
It is how we learn to bounce.

and we bounce a lot...

This may not be relevant to the meaning of the poem but I find the last paragraph to be very practical. For indeed, the outcome of all our endeavors, be it positive or negative, is but a result of our preparation/s.
