Borders

Borders

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Borders
on the border of love
slipping into a new country of conjoined souls
borderline psychotic cycling between
crazy in love
and just crazy
letting borders expand
a heart reaching to the other side
blurred lines of emotional vision

border trees turning tentatively
on the border of adolescence
to the border of sin
at the border of eloquent aging
or instant gratification turned
an excessive wrinkling of the outer bark
and inner roots

borderline helplessness, suffocating on your scent
but happily letting go of all borders
just to die in the throes
of the cherished country

that is you.

This was pretty intense. All sorts of borders...I think the metaphor here could be played into exhaustion. Perhaps even crossing unseen borders into the uncharted country of her smile. Delightful!

Bella, .... she's the best of course ;)
I bet that pen you had in hand was whispering to you and what became a beautiful poem was really the silence of Jacob.

In tight spaces we guard ourselves and when the shields come down the relief can be shocking. The freedom can leave us vulnerable. Zero borders and exposed which can be so powerful. I like it Jacob. Thanks for sharing.

You bet my man. Anytime.
There is a kind of mysterious relief in letting go of the borders, which we mostly redefine ourselves...
This is lovely to read and get lost into. Beautiful piece, Jacob.

This is so beautifully romantic, Jacob. When it comes to love, all borders are blurred. There is no "you" or "me"...there is only "us". "Eloquent aging"....is that even possible? :) Love that endures from adolescence through old age is rare these days...and cherished. Just lovely! Lydi**

You are welcome my friend.
I remember reading silly lymrics to my son, and having to explain the idea of boarder. The lymrics were less silly.

borders are acts of great camouflage that vanish us back into craft like a tinker who makes toys or like the Chinese man who fixed the heels on my beetle boots last weekend. He spoke to me in broken English but spoke to his assistant in his native manderin. His borders (his truth) he pounds out each day and perhaps doesn't have a poets mythical expectation that something unsubtle is happening in his inner self. So his names his "shoe repair business" happiness/ and even starts to love it...great poem my friend...dana
