improvising a rock collection

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

improvising a rock collection

needless sentiment
becomes increasingly sediment
chipped cert
mundanely encrypted marble eyes
void of intensity
listless staring
at a life now embedded
in granite heart

stone free
as Hendrix would crone
with his guitar blasting the thought of you
through worn vinyl discord

my melody of you
needless sentiment

i am not musically inclined
or poetically inclined
to write my darkness
into your light

but i know of your moons
that shed tranquil rays
with savage determination

and the reflection
just embellishes
fool's gold
into looking real.

I really love this one! I love the rock references, both stone & musical! This message sings more & more as the stanzas go by & I'm in love with the last two! So much vivid imagery (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Sometimes you need the Midas touch jacob. It’s only fool’s gold when it doesn’t work!

All I've ever managed to mine is fool's gold--something, as you've indicated, not so pretty sans moonlight.
A higher grade of emotional iron pyrite seems the best I can hope for.
Dynamite poem!

When love lets you down there is no place to hide Jacob. Npo place of refuge and all things turn to stone in emotional terms. You take us to the seventies in this piece with free love that was not worth the hope and commitment.

Ah' we fossils love a bit of archaeology every now and then, and what better to listen to whilst coveting a rare piece of early concrete than good old jimmy H.

I really enjoyed this jacob and on so many different levels Still finding something new to consider each time makes it even more special....Cheers, N
