oh this is a jewel in the crown...so poignant and so relatable to most ... not cool .. not a jock .. not brawny nor dancer ... stuttered over women and feet ... couldn't quite master a "B" .. i love this one a lot

thank you kindly, E.

It's amazing how just a few lines can be so powerful. Just like how so much can change in even just a few years. Yearbooks are memories of who people were. Now many of the people I went to school with either died far too young, have some messy relationships where no one can decide what they are. They're single mothers with more on the way, or the few of them that made it to happy engaged and even fewer happily married. It makes me sad that the happy kids in the photos are so unhappy now.

Melancholy mood.
The things we notice so often reflect what we're feeling. Perhaps, at the time, your relationship was an absolute given; one almost lessened by any form of commemoration.
Hard-hitting senryu!

yes, was a given...a really good one...no returns...
thank you, Jimmy.
The things we didn't do. Effect us more than the mistakes. A lot said in the few words my friend. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome Jacob.
Indeed photos, especially those taking us back to times past, need no epitaph. Lovely senryu, depictive brief and to the point Jacob.

Sort of glad they don't do yearbooks in Britain.
Sure mine would have read.
Thank God he's gone.

I very much doubt that, Paul...

thanks for stopping by this piece..

Yearbook, just a chapter in the book of life. I prefer current installations. Editing, ongoing.

It is nice to reflect on those memories though. Makes you wounder if old friends and classmates think of you from time to time. Time is generally kinder to the book than the subject. We probably treat the book better.

Enjoyed your poem. Thanks for sharing.

When I do back and read what people wrote in my yearbook I am surprised by what some said and try to remember why.
