another day in November

another day in November

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

another day in November

some armed some not
broken pieces
puzzles of war
nothing fits back into life
after,

the induction, seduction, reduction
of body,
of heart

of mind,

plagues of shattered pictures
of ghosts lying in cradled hands
friends of distinction, now friends of extinction

all as one serving
now blown into proportions
of segregated selves

a day to remember for us
a day to forget for them

or perhaps
just another day
that arrives
to survive

barely alive
marching to the same beat
either mending
or bending

closer
to oblivion.

A verse to make one think! Astonishing though it seems it is the reality. Thank you for bringing these facts to light!

Great tribute to those who served and serve now. Tears in eyes of memory. Ghosts of hearts remembered. “Broken pieces..puzzles of war”- so sadly true. Cuttingly sharp and eloquent requiem for the living and the dead here. “To survive..barely alive.” My father would have nodded his head at this, and thanked you j., if he were here...Heart-breaking and filled with truth. I humbly thank you for him.
