amorous fossilsA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoamorous fossils
bones of lovers covered with soft sod recently filled-in
graves of graphic pain
skeletons of
relationships of suicide kisses ring fingers, calcium
congregations of wedding worms
crawling down some cryptic aisle
i found you before they
covered us up we embraced in a chorus
of "death do us part" and then the poison
pervaded our proposition with perpetual
misunderstanding a fatal dose of
unwitting misconception and they laid us out
like Romeo and Juliet
no Capulets or Montagues
to grieve but ghosts of our hearts held hands
and wept.
