fresh stones

fresh stones

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

fresh stones

a pretentious pretender

spreads the love

like soft butter,

but feels like a hard rock inside

the daily bread tears at the hypocrisy

i smile and frolic

carry tunes in my pocket

a walking song of sanity

sandwiched into his life

suffocating in a freezer lock bag of indifference

expiration date approaching

a mayday of molding marauding

do you see the green spots?

it's not envy

if that's what you think.

Another classic Jacob ,love the closing stanza, sharp as a strong cheddar cheese but with the imagery of gondazola cheese. Excuse spelling. Brilliant metaphors.

It feels like you're piquing my mind with little darts of barely-there recognition, trying to remember how this feels, wondering how those mold spots appear without warning . . . *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

Very very powerful. Hypocrisy is a plague. Enables inequity.

Some times and places and peoples
are way past their expiration dates
They may try to share the suffocation/ending..
bring down the hearty living beings
to their level of frozen bygone morals
Apathy is real and growing
Beware the Great Pretenders....

Food For Thought !!!

You are welcome jacob.. this one is TIMELY ...J.J.
Powerful words here, Jacob. Too many people care about the wrong things and don't see injustice in their own backyards. Liked the alliteration in this one and the punching imagery. Lydi**

People's interpretations of life and - of others' poetry is fascinating. So frequently seems that ongoing thoughts have taken the reins. So much in your phrases open an anthology of quotes.. meanings familiar to past occurrnces or things said, hinted at or - screamed. Imprsioned in that plastic bag often self-inflicted.

'.. a mayday of molding marauding.. ' Interesting that.. need think and think its association with the previous few lines.
