A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

pour me another poem, please

she was just pieces of herself

lost nights

another bottle waiting for dawn

her guitar soaked with beer

and blank pages of her life

flames consumed what was left

she was just pieces of herself

and the blue tips

of those flames

the liquor cabinet

(almost empty)

would never give away her secrets

and the smoke filled residue

of her existence

was a few cursive poems

and a glamorous black and white photo

of her better days

before the puzzle began unraveling

and our hearts laid her to rest.

Every phrase you create makes a thought live, jacob.
Too often a facade dripss a craziness where once was a beautiful talent.

In this case the trigger was booze that fed the lines of she and maybe fed the writer now recollecting memories that need to be softened.

This is gold. I absolutely love it. Is it spontaneous writing or did you make some sort of planning before writing it? I am asking due to the fact that the verse looks so natural...almost like it poured out of you without stopping. Thank you so much for this poem, really.

This one hits home. Flippant comments would take away from the feeling.

Metaphoric mastery unsurpassed. She was a drink best taken cold..at the end. “ She was just pieces of herself”-stellar line. Stark verses evocative of a poetic life interrupted, chronicled in unforgiving black and white, “unraveling” before all eyes. A worthy homage. A profound tribute.

I do understand this poem. I drank for 8 years once. Still the memories persists. Nice flow of thoughts led to a honest ending. Thank you Jacob for sharing your amazing poetry.

A amazing poem and you are welcome.
A sweltering heat of fine-detailed metaphorical mastery... I would say top my words off, but I believe I am already quite alphabet-drunk... Just a few cursive poems in a smoky existence... Wowza

Profoundly sad.
At least, unlike some, she did have some better days.
Exceptional poetry.
