diagram me

diagram me

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

diagram me

i spend hours in your dreams
and you still don't notice me
just as in the awakening
you walk right by my daydreams
not even a turn of the head,
the slightest peruse
i am part of the sentence
you ignore,
the article, the helping verb
the preposition

the fragment in the scheme of things
never your complete thought
i would give my life
just to be a phrase in your peripheral

but the less you see of me
the more i fade into a bookmark
a leaf between your pages
only for show
but shown no affection

i could be an important adjective
for the noun of you

but to you
less is more

and i am more or less
expendable

in your essay eyes

If only the visible could feel or see the invisible like a shadow we follow unnoticed.

Fantastic! Using the parts of speech to describe unrequited love is wonderful. Unfortunately, life can not be diagrammed as easily as a sentence can be. Lydi**

👍🏻 😎
It caused me to think about diagraming sentences and in your case the absolute significance of a major diagram of life.

This is so damn beautiful! I can relate heavily, as I've faded into a bookmark so many times lately. I believe many people feel this way, utterly invisible, beyond romantic ideas of human connection & including the more far-reaching epidemic of broken communications causing rampant divisions. There's an intense wistfulness here that comes across very hauntingly (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I see you were considerate enough not to incorporate the gerund in your plea for diagramming. Besides putting it on stilts, it has been my experience that most folks don't really know what to do with this part of speech. (Though, being an English prof, you, no doubt, do.)
"diagram me" is typically clever and deeply insightful. Just another day at the office, for you.

i feel the same way as John has explained... like the teacher in love with a much younger aged student who is not bothered about how he feels about her :P

but the poem is sad yet beautiful...
