Coming to a Theater near you this Spring

Coming to a Theater near you this Spring

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Coming to a Theater near you this Spring

in bloom

on a September morn

Cotton jeans feel secure

open toed sandals a bit cool

autumn has a certain tone to it

leaflets passed out on orange paper

and few gold rings

for the binder

i loved you with brisk longing

October's embrace

and then watched a film of my imagination

alone,

the popcorn was too buttery

and my Twizzlers' memory

a bit too chewy

like it was old or something

expensive regrets

cost more than the movie

but the seasons change for free

if only i could

with them.

Autumn is the new Spring, so I hear, and sixty is the "new" forty. It seems modernity is catching up quicker than previously imagined with no sympathy for stragglers. Never mind what your seasons tell you. I enjoyed the read my friend. Your metaphor is brilliant as usual.

thank you for your kind and insightful words, Fabian.

A magnificent example of your genius for metaphors.
In that regard, readers hope and trust you will not change.
(These days, lousy popcorn and stale candy are hardly all-that-minor financial losses.)
Sadly, old memories never reach resolution--just grow older.

Sadly, the ravages of time and aging don't spare even the memories Mr. Jacob....

These lines were too beautiful. You shake the reader with your depth of poetry here. Kudos!

thank you for your kind review, DIVYA...

I feel the melancholy throughout the piece and somehow it feels so relatable. This poem reminds me of putting on an old tshirt, one that is stuck to my comfort and rejected by change. I find myself stuck in many situations, even though I'm in awe of change. Great write my friend.

yes, change rejects us, or the other way around...thank you Keegan.

Ha you are like me I wear 't' shirts and jeans all year round in defiance of the winter. These memories of angst and break-up feel sad and brutal in this piece. Memories often become stale and tainted and far from nutritious.
