Sounds as if a melancholy morn brings a remembrance in shadows of past regret. Many falls have fallen with their indelible stream of memories.I too, have run the same reels of October longing, but I ate the popcorn anyway awaiting the first leaf.El perfecto maestro

Ah, yes....if we could change with the seasons. If we could turn off emotions as easily as the calendar pages turn. Life would be so much simpler. But, alas, that is not the case. Great movie theater references. I could almost smell the buttered popcorn. Lydi**

today is the first day of Autumn and i'm sitting under the air conditioner in 91 degree heat. When we were kids or in love the seasons changed on time. The 600 dollar snow blower I bought in 2015 didn't get used at all in 2016 or 2017. But i'm not complaining. Only that a yellow jacket flew in the passenger side of the car window which caused a temporary panic.///////In other words,....I loved your poem// dana

It's funny I was thinking to write something about noticing the change of the seasons and correlating it with quietude today, in fact I will :D
This is a lovely poem, sometimes I think it seems when we are deep in love, we naturally notice the world around us a little bit more than usual, love seems to want to be everywhere then.
I love how you have used two themes and wrapped them nicely into one allowing us to wander through your words, taking in the sights and sounds as we go - can popcorn ever be too buttery? :D
For me it's a look back in longing but at the same time realising that love is always there, we just need to allow it.
Lovely words X

Sometimes your melancholic heart displays stronger than.. and in this, it does, j. But it does so in such a skilful way, each stanza stands complete within a tale of beautiful sadness.
Always loved Autumn. Many see it as the end of a year's life, for me it displays the most beautiful of colours as if to say 'this is the sun held in every dance of leaves as they fall to earth, to nurture and protect it If we didn't have memories of times past, we'd not have lived and learned, surely.
Must add, so appreciate the way you bring clothing and nibbles into such dreamy language. - makes it more personal.
'.. .. autumn has a certain tone to it ~ leaflets passed out on orange paper'
However you write, your poetry has a unique spirit.. and warmth.

top notch sir ...words well chosen ..tightly packed ...overbrimming with feelings of fall (my favorite) and love .. one of your best .. triggers memories with each turn of phrase .. this verse is my favorite:
"i loved you with brisk longing
October's embrace
and then watched a film of my imagination"
fine reading for me! thanks for sharing

Yes, the seasons keep changing for free. Changing ourselves can sometimes be very costly. As you put it, 'expensive regrets cost more than the movie'. But I hope he finds some better popcorn, and not so chewy Twizzlers.! I enjoyed your poem.
