No Safe GroundA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoNo Safe Ground
hurricanes
and earthquakes and such intrusive lovers not really friends but then there is
weathering family
some dead, some moribund
in the mind hearts dance into
epiphany's night but arms aren't wrapped
around each other they linger at a
distance
survivors entreaty but blood transfusions
can't cut through the cold
on a NY street, i saw
you in a picture several stories and
states away like some ghost still
begging for form
thoughts ride
interstates in angry cars forgiveness is a brief
rest stop with no concessions
you are gone from me, i'm tired of driving
into the same storm and even the most
expansive tremors couldn't shock my
heart back to you.
