strike

strike

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

strike

sift the insightful waters

of stinging tears,

and then, ripples of penitence

evaporate the will

and love becomes a large mouth bass

under the glass

waiting to strike the heart

that is as unaware

as a surface lure

strolling along the cheek of sadness.

Too deep for me--though I have, more than once, had "ripples of penitence" evaporate my will.
Second stanza: Incredibly creative metaphor.
High-level work, Jacob!

Indeed tears of regret drive us into the blackness where we are left vulnerable to any hope at all.
This is a starkly emotional piece full of deep descriptions and words that strike chords amany.
