A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

bits of love's blood

extracted from a vein of pain

leaves drops of dehydration

coagulation of rejections past

the flow now denied

pulsation on life support

memories, an out of body experience

wishes he had secured a transfusion

while there was still a time

his heart

beat on its own.

This is one metaphor I subscribe to Jacob having been in healthcare and having lost a lot of blood to the failure of love's intentions. It leaves one moribund and lifeless as though at times experiencing 'locked-in' syndrome.

With support the heart might beat anew.
Producing fresh blood,
and a few new memories.

If nothing else,
a will to take a chance,
and see.

melancholic mood again Jacob, metaphorically an ending.... but new doors may be open to new blood in those veins

thank you for your words, Stella...

This is a description of pain, pure and simple. It is sparely written, so attention is required, but given such, it gets its point across very well. The speaker is one to whom life has said "no" too many times. Now he seems to be on his last legs; in other words, he has given up on it all. The last verse is particularly moving. It makes you wince, but it is very evocative.
