at the table of awarenessA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertolittle boys in suits wearing sandals to protect the bottoms of their scruples faith is finding out what's under the blouse socks shed at a Holy Thursday dinner in silence hiding the Playboy disposition under a napkin on the lap those thoughts projected into stations of the cross heads bowed in prayer minds elsewhere (those beauties with black patent shoes having a patent on stealing innocence their wicked adolescent smiles conniving while arriving at the somber age of penance and regrets) go to bed without dessert the sundae melted in the heat of a moment they kneel on their hands praying a little harder than usual but still thinking of those shoes and what's really reflecting up. erin-cilberto 8/27/17 © 2017 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
