less than friendly skies

less than friendly skies

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

less than friendly skies

rifling through the key board

like looking for a lost item

in a piece of luggage

i search words like my heart

some compartment has to have the remnants of you

still held intact,

the letters unlock secrets

but you remain hidden from sight

never from mind,

and i fly away from myself

in a cloud of disbelief

ticket in hand

but your hand in another's

and my thoughts in first class

dominant,

looking out the window

hoping to catch a glimpse

of what once was our sky.

Out of sight, but never out of mind. Those we loved rent a piece of our hearts and minds forever, don't they? We tend to rewrite history when we look back. Skies might be cloudy now, but we want to see the sun...and we do. Liked the metaphor here. Lydi**

I don't know why,
but riding coach is somehow
like being a surf in Shakespeares Globe Theatre.
Experiencing the amazing, cramped-
somehow sound like you've got the hots
for an actor... just get to dream.
first class is always out of reach.
(never ridden myself!)

This theme recurs for a romantic poet who still regrets this loss of someone who still tugs at his heart with each key stroke. Sadly romantic in Jacob metaphors.

thank you for your kind words, John----

A lover forgotten, but not the love. The feeling of amazement when we come across a lost lover, were they really our world?...so beautifully captured here.

the letters unlock secrets
but you remain hidden from sight

never from mind,
and i fly away from myself
in a cloud of disbelief

Loved the thoughts here.
