the keys to each other
A Poem by
jacob erin-cilberto
the keys to each other
smack me sillywith your poetry backhand
words stinging my cheekbones
slicing through the skin of my impairment
my weakness,
there have been too many periods
too many stops in my life,
i want a run-on future
let me read you into it
i promise not to be a fragment of love
we won't need punctuation
just enough white space on the page
to rhyme into eternity
getting stronger with each beat
each line....

'i promise not to be a fragment of love'
This reads lovely. 'rhyme into eternity'... love the feeling it evokes.

no stopping to analyse why... just to know that it works well, no stopping to mend differences just a smooth , uninterrupted, beautiful and loving friendship..... ideal, i would say :)

Your work is always a pleasure to read and this was no exception. I don't believe I've ever had the keys but I've been caught more than once trying to pick the locks. The older we get the more walls it seems there are to hurdle or locks to open.

Monster last verse sir- unequivocally takes my breath away..our words are "the keys to each other"- the source, the font, the labyrinth of 'us'..words that kill, words that birth, catalysts...Master-Class x 100

crazy how we read
into poetry like someones
been watching... how can
somethings capture us?
when we find those lines
we do fall, don't we?

Oh yes, the most amazing stuff here is about the sheer effect that we can have on one another with poetry. This was the best part.

The concluding line gave me goosebumps...such an inevitable fate of love. Figuratively superb and just great poetry from you.
