Jacob, I dont know if it is right to say that I have found some sense of humor here especially the last stanza..there is humour and sadness all mixed up but humour is of a greater mixture..
This makes me sad and makes me wanna giggle at the same time... for a lot of us, we don't write for the masses.. we write for ourselves..so what if it is misspelled, punctuation lacking, plot as straight as an arrow...how did you feel writing it? How do you feel looking back and reading it? Why do we always gravitate towards comparison or judgement? What makes something bad, stupid, meaningless, wise? Why are we always so hard on ourselves even when others praise or compliment? next time I am feeling sassy though, I may tell someone to go modify themself..lol. I thought of you earlier when was reading about eclipse coming and remembered where you're from. Pulled on my heartstrings with the one in this one. Hope all is well my friend.

If it happens before my end,
I will hoist a glass.
Spelling forgiven,
and grammar tossed to a side.
Remembering the soul,
the words,
and a bar-tab,
luckily under someone else's name.
Confusion reigns and we all get wet. We can drown in a flow of words, or take a deep breath and just float to to our destination.
The beauty of words lies in their buoyancy and flexibility, as you so often demonstrate in your writing, Jacob.

i'll take the floating, thank you...
and thanks for your kind words, Norman.

you, the plural pronoun of the dative, is talking about all of us. Not a single one of us will do this forever. And most of the time, even in our zealotry,
we will get it wrong. We will misspell it or the energy at the end, will be waning ....No surprise...
"But with love i do mind you..in the heart's sense" and what other "sense" does a true poet need? We get older, we change, we see things differently, but if we can love, and words come, we are blessed. You are a Master now and always will be j. because you love, and your words prove it...
