transistor radio's for sale sign

transistor radio's for sale sign

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

transistor radio's for sale sign

rambunctious fingers

prey upon skin,

the literal goose bumps

of figurative longing

the walks, the talks

arms inclined to grievance

once let go

memories walk each other home

forever,

even now

long after we've both moved

and vacant lots

still kiss the half moon

of residence.

Ah, memories.....days of transistor radios and mostly AM radio. Times have changed and the players are long gone, but we remember. I liked this one. LydI**

Seems strange. But transistor was always shortened to tranny in Britain. Definitely not PC now. Though there was something really exciting about a transistor. Especially getting the pirate radio stations. Where did all the fun go.

thank you, Paul.

it's funny how the world "transistor" still holds the same meaning as it did when it was introduced. It meant, dazzling. I meant fluxion. And yet it still means an invisible conveyance of something we refuse to understand...Like love perhaps or wanting to be in love...

The final six lines of this poem is what poetry is to mean in the 21st century. That anything not lived in is also unadaptable ......great ideas here sir...dana

Music took the meanings we gave it. It marked OUR time, existence, and and tied together our memories. It became personal and lifelong. It needn't separate generations so long as we understand that anger and frustrations touch upon us all.

it would be cool to buy a radio at a yard sale that played back all the memories we've forgotten. The way old songs brings certain sighs..."oh, I'd forgotten that" or "oh, I remember you"

always my pleasure ......
J. This takes me back to those days of innocent exploration of all aspects of life and love. How many know what a transistor radio was, or the fact that late at night with a bit of luck and atmospheric bounce you could pick up the Wolfman out of Mexico and feast on the blues
until the batteries ran out. Thanks for the memory.

To me this poem is a touching expression of the memory of love. Memory is a kind of time capsule, don’t you think? Time and distance, even moving on to a new path cannot dim the love once shared in that memory time capsule. We may share new love with someone else, but any love once shared is forever true in our memories.
