like Adam, Eve and that old tree of knowing
A Poem by
jacob erin-cilberto
like Adam, Eve and that old tree of knowing
in
ecstasy's womb
i kick the carcass
of what once was,
dying to get out
impelled toward the
passion
once conceived with you
i am a stillborn
flashback
and we are the
procreation
of how eyes are the
dreams
of sin
originally condemned
to a life of what if's.

But if we knew, then it would probably never happen.
Such is the conundrum of life. We learn, but are still none the wiser.

REALLY love this - 'ecstasy's womb' and 'stillborn flashback' are especially poignant phrases - well done!

Those nightmarish What ifs that haunt the mind more so than the memory itself. nice work j loved the brevity, great metaphors. Many a names are etched on the tree of knowing.

Ah, passion once shared with another and now sought after....very much the same theme as my latest. We all wonder "what if"....sometimes, though, we are better off not knowing. Great metaphors, Jacob. Lydi**

thank you for your words, Mr. e.
I could feel the rawness of regret, being stuck in time, perhaps longing...
"i am a stillborn flashback
and we are the procreation
of how eyes are the dreams
of sin"
Unforgettable lines...

When we lose something like this it can seem that a little death and it is this sense that has co.e through most clearly for me in the poem. A sad piece but the imagery is so powerful.
