straight jacket throneA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
you
were my tie-dyed empress but our kingdom faded like your blond
follicles of love,
the roots of deception began to show, and a ruler cut at the
knees you did as you please
and your crown rusted along with the affection we once held sacred
poor kingdoms become irrelevant i spent my heart on you gathered what was left
of my holdings
let go of you, retreated with my army
of emotions
kept running, with
imperial abandon and even now, lay no
claim to my crazy past.
