straight jacket throne

straight jacket throne

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

straight jacket throne

you were my tie-dyed empress

but our kingdom

faded like your blond follicles

of love,

the roots of deception

began to show,

and a ruler cut at the knees

you did as you please

and your crown rusted

along with the affection

we once held sacred

poor kingdoms

become irrelevant

i spent my heart on you

gathered what was left of my holdings

let go of you,

retreated with my army of emotions

kept running, with imperial abandon

and even now, lay no claim

to my crazy past.

thank you, Wraith.

Sometimes love can leave you seeking asylum in the castles in the air.
Most of us have experienced this to some degree in our past.

isn't it a beautiful tune?

that is my favorite song by him...along with Vincent.
Love can make the sanest man feel insane, I can relate to this one.

sure do relate to the "tie-dyed empress" ..oh the memories of days gone by ..for me there was no such investment so i skated free on that account .. vivid hair images (can't believe "follicles" also slides by so easily) :) i think the "roots" pull it off :O
alas, if we only did rule our hearts as a King a kingdom ... but hey ... we miss out on all that suffering of which creations are born ..enjoyed reading as always jacob

Like all great empires, love sometimes seems doomed to inevitable collapse. Or am I being pessimistic? Don't care, great metaphors do that.

appreciate you.

That Empress thing. It's a powerful position, and power is an aphrodisiac. You see it all around the world. Running actually could be the safe thing to do.

We are all kings and queens of our own sandcastles in the sun, till a nice strong wave washes ashore and drags us off to the sea of a different reality, the past is just a crashing wave of old perception.

Retreated with my army of emotions is a great line. Superb word play.

Sometimes we must retreat in order to survive

Continual loss seems to best characterize this relationship.

There is an array of emotions on display here. Taking whats yours and leaving behind what once satisfied. Change has so many different looks.

"and your crown rusted
along with the affection
we once held sacred"

Those lines clinched it for me. They say so much. This was a pleasure to read and thank you for sharing your thoughts.
