the North StarA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertothe North Star
Dylan's
blue old Italian poets
drowning in Venice waters funneled words in
Gondolas
singing songs of
morning, young lovers kissing
under a bridge of sighs ancient teenagers learning more than
kindly old men dare to tell
goodbye is always
saturated by rivers on cheeks of
intense struggle
i grew up once and you
were standing by now i am an old wise man nearing the nativity of
what once was my naivety
and i see you in the
straw mirrors behind me reflected like
a giant your strong hand guiding
me
as i swim in grave
waters hoping the end is as
calm
as you were when the clouds
interrupted sky.
