elastic conception

elastic conception

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

elastic conception

flexible feelings,

heavy heart

to

          heartened heart

rate variable

loopholes in the system

weakened knees,

veins of verisimilitude...

the blood red truth

cuts can be welcome

it's aliveness

it's a vulnerable accounting

the rigid savings of the past

allotted atonement

a philanthropist in perception

give it away with impunity

in the end,

the risks are worth

              the honest bleeding.

I see this piece as the heart
going from rigid walls
to softening up
learning that experience is part of being alive
for the heart can't beat truly unless it is open

beautiful work

thank you for your kind words, my friend.

When the honest bleeding turns to blood letting, it is beyond time to go. That honest bleeding can easily leave us empty if we are not careful. It's sad that it should ever be.

true....thank you, Linda...

Despite it being a muscle the heart is the most fragile organ we have, but its vulnerability belies a fierceness to continue beating despite the hardships and wounds it endures. It's a wonderfully visual and emotional piece of writing.

thank you for your kind review, Anne.

We live, we risk, we bleed, we survive to risk again, and we write to tell of it. "The risks are worth the honest bleeding".-profound. I agree. "Veins of versimilitude" -metaphoric brilliance. Great thoughts well- penned. (Wish the bleeding didn't have to hurt so much though...Just sayin'.:)

i hear you on the bleeding, Annette...definitely..

thank you,
j.
Back in the days medieval they would open a vein to drain the infection or attach leaches, its a wonder that the patient survived at all...but bleeding of the emotional vein, well, let it pour right? if it heals you?

my pleasure Jacob
I have struggled with this one Jacob. It left me thinking about confused young women and self harm but that may be well off the mark? Made me read it several times though and still in awe of your language sculptures!
