the fluctuation of teardrops

the fluctuation of teardrops

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the fluctuation of teardrops

most of the time,

the rain is straight laced

downward angles, pelting truth

but on occasion,

that horizontal path,

like the white lies of lightning

emits crooked drops

splashing us with falsities

relationships can be like April weather

the on and off

of truth and lies

the pulsating skies in the eyes

of a lover,

what do we believe?

clouds never burst

or the sun never sets on love

pondering the conundrum

the mind hears thundering applause

it drowns out the integrity of honest clearing

so we anticipate the next storm,

either looking forward,

or seeking shelter.

Relationships are often stormy and difficult to predict. In such circumstances we simply pull our collars up and hope for the weather to break or we cut and run. Maybe we need to move to a warmer more temperate climate. If I have learned one lesson in life it is that if one is in the eye of the storm one is in the wrong place. Hail the metaphor king!
