sleep fitA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
the
mattress is still firm like my resolve, but the body imprint on
the other side is fading,
the pillow talk silent one is still fluffed but cold the other still stuffed and old
my thoughts blanketed but the warmth seeped from under the sheets
i lie on my side,
staring at the empty space, as the room contracts
one squeezed out, the other squeezed in
to himself.
