A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the bones of a time ago

sordid decomposure

exposure

of demented facts

old friends, not bookends

but enclosing some elusive chemistry---

a past science,

doing the math again,

but not sure the multiplication of years

in-between

adds up

to a factor worth computing

and yet,

composing those songs in my head of yesterday,

they don't sound unplayable

vinyl gathers dust

but the grooves are still there

when you smile

and unfinished experiments

still have the possibility

of successful conclusion.

The music once so sweet will never be the same. With time, things change. People change. You may create music equally as sweet or it can destroy both the present and the past. I travelled down this road before and wish I had left well enough alone.
