such as love writes itselfA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
such as
it is, my love is yours damaged, preoccupied
with past echoes hearing the limited
perception of painful memory
such as it is, my love belongs to you scarred beatings off beat slight pulse all that's left
such as it is, goodbye has been
overused the exits worn from
footsteps the running away a motif for the essay of my life
such as i am, i am here standing in front of
you, hoping you will release
the bandages put your ear to my chest
and pray there's still a
beat to that song i sang with innocence many loves before you.
