in a bed of liability

in a bed of liability

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in a bed of liability

even with my peripheral vision
never saw you coming,
you were the hit and run
my insurance didn't cover,

now my deductible
is such my heart
will never find its emotional ledger

balanced again---

it will always be as red
as the rose's obliteration
when we collided

on love's precarious
                            garden road...

Ah, love's "garden road"....filled with thorns that we don't notice at first. The metaphor of the car accident....brilliant. Lydi**

I may have to read every piece of yours today if they continue to be as brilliantly written as the this one and the last one. This is an incredible piece. I loved it.

Jacob, you've outdone yourself here. Brilliant Allegory, metaphor sharp as a blade- hearbreak the pre-existing condition (!), the "hit and run", not covered by any insurance plan. Blindly we careen down "Love's precarious garden road". Accident waiting to happen. Perfect!

Sometimes that's the collision we dream about. Till it actually happens. Then we find the no claims bonus doesn't cover it.

Aloha Jacob, you never do see them coming do you? and then you're never quite the same. Great metaphor. I really enjoyed the read. Izzy
