Noah's InstinctA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoNoah's
Instinct
smashing
water, the ark of some covenant God is shedding his
tears all at once
the earth his kerchief we are a world saddening
the spirits the grief of garrulous
hatred abounds
simple poet splashes
words on a page the flooding warps his
once optimistic theories sum of the parts drowned
in the whole
the eye is breaking
again veins of the heart,
little rivers overflowing their banks
life is an out of
control current titanic gestures cannot
withstand love is going under for
the last time.
