All You Can Eat

All You Can Eat

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

All You Can Eat

consumer index at an all time high

hope devoured

claws of assumption dripping blood

a carnage of disinterest

buffet of barbaric portions

apathy for dessert

filling our vain intentions

not fulfilling

the emptiness in famished hearts...

Excellent! "Claws of assumption dripping blood...a carnage of disinterest"- masterful use of words and imagery. I love this on-point description of our materialistic Pac-Man society.

interesting and insightful words, Paul.

Interesting poem, very graphic and full of double meanings. I liked it a lot and I especially liked the last line as it takes the idea of the heart as a symbol for hope and love to another level.

thank you for your kind review, Mel...

Capitalist carnivores abound as the masses vie to own the biggest TV, the fastest car and the nicest house without a thought for the real issues such as poverty and war and the destruction of the planet. You bring this to the reader with a no held punches metaphorical piece Jacob.
