love's rematch

love's rematch

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

love's rematch

salty composure

Hedonistic compunction

love thrown over a shoulder

but the luck is just dry tears

the umbrella punctured with stinging emotion

a heart flailing at clouds

with ineffective fists

clenched dreams lose the fight

once broken, there is no second-ten count

the fight is called before it starts.

Few second battles are won by anyone.
"once broken, there is no second-ten count
the fight is called before it starts."
After the initial battle. Raw heart want to rest and run from the war zone. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
do love rematches work or follow the original course it was on, once tarnished the stain is not easy to remove.

so true what you say...not easy to remove...but often we try even if we got knocked out in the first.. read more
oh my goodness ...you have captured the "no chance cowboy" perfectly ..yeow! ouch ..one can't just lay there in the street bleeding but why get up when you just get knocked down again ..i love this gritty, real, straightforward poem ... the elephant in the room is the cold heart of Ms. Love ...ouchy ouch ouch! ;)

In most of my love matches, I would have needed a knockout to get a draw.

Two lines much appreciated:

"Love thrown over a shoulder."
"The umbrella punctured with stinging emotion."

Skillful creation!

There are no do-overs in love, are there? Sometimes a relationship is doomed from the start. Great metaphor here. Lydi**

and do overs usually turn out the same...what isn't meant to be, isn't meant to be.

True enough, Jacob.
And what if it's just an interval after which the fight resumes? For some people it is a fight, while for others, a game just played to win over..
Nicely worded..

And I like your poems which me think hard.
You're welcome, Jacob. A pleasure reading 😊
This provokes images of such futility and its physical manifestations as we rage 'at the moon' in pain, disbelief and anger when our relationship in ended on one side.,

Sounds like some below the belt cheap shots were taken leaving a flurry of bruises. Sometimes things fall into place the second or third go around. The players may change though.
