Family ties unravelled...
A bond that is generally so strong, blood being thicker than water and all. But even so, the ties unravel and true colours reveal.

thank you for understanding, Ana.
not so thick sometimes.

(sigh) -- this is such an brilliantly excuted poem with pleasing meter and your gift for word play. the intriguing, disenchanted imagery your pen incorporated into this ink, simply captivates the reader's imagination.
There is something very simple and elegant about your phrasing, that as a new poet I find impossible to grasp. I think I'll keep reading this and some of your other works until I figure it out.

And suddenly I'm reminded of a time when I was a kid and aspiring jazz musician. A teacher of mine told me that in your youth you focus so much of your performance on impressing people with all the things you know and can do. But all the old jazz masters change as they age. Their hands slow down and their lungs grow weaker. And their performances become more minimalistic, saying only what needs to be said. But in a way that breathes experience and mastery.
And, again, looking at this--it's very clear how green I am.
Certainly feel like one of those love applicants who "has a faulty resume and ephemeral chances to be retained." Tellingly, I have yet to be retained.
Your poem also features these verbal gems:
"The abyss arrives at our door."
"Communication is a mute chime."
"...a knock on family ties."
"Blood Simple Dreams" deeply impressed me with its sheer creativity.
I have a brother whom I have not spoken to for years because he ripped off my brother and sisters and killed a woman in a car accident but has no remorse. I felt this one Jacob!

thank you, John...family is blood but sometimes not the blood we want in our veins.

I'm going to have to think about this one, Jacob. It's screaming family rift to me. I have a few estranged family members. We only get together now at funerals and even then there is no healing between us.
