where you are in the drops

where you are in the drops

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

where you are in the drops

April spits and shines
and we absorb the patent leather delivery

nature's cobbler
the shoe fits all
and the rains blossom
penny loafer blues

and hush puppy silence
when the sun peeks through
a pink cloud

and space between us
seems just over the next bend

when really it is a May moon away---

A poem full of depth, description and metaphor as only a master can deliver. The ending is a blow to the solar plexus.

and after the May moon, comes the flip flops and sneakers dodging those drops... but you had me with those penny loafer blues, soooo many memories held in those loafers, band stand, dance hops, wild skirts, and yes the tear drops of puppy love... of course now it has been many, too many to count, May moons since and truth be told I have no clue as to where anyone is anymore..

my mind just went back there as soon as I read patent leather Jacob... my mind is weird, but your poem is not and was thoroughly enjoyed as I found my red suede shoes and went dancing... and as Bowie sang later, also sang the blues... ;0)

love your poetry Jacob.... redzone

I like the references to "penny loafer blues and hush puppy silence" best in this write, which makes me long for a little bit of April rain before summer takes over Phoenix. Nicely written. ~Jim
