seasons curved in sway

seasons curved in sway

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

seasons curved in sway

imagine a snowfall in June

hearts afire with white flame

and incandescent skin tanned in dimpled decor

burn tracked veins of cold blood

a lover's venom

swift blue

it's December in March

            and I couldn't feel further

from mirth

---because the birth

             of us

is an aborted blizzard

frost bite

             a translucent reminder

i did once

            love you.

This seems to me a chilling description of how a heart can change toward another, usually due to disappointment and blatant disregard for the love shown(?) You certainly have a way! Most can't do this with words. I know I can't. I.I.

My pleasure :)
you never lose your metaphors to the brutal winter blizzards nor to those too oft reminders of a "once love"... I think it is true that all the seasons curve and sway, each giving no reprieve to loss and regret or from pain... it is always a joy to read you Jacob... and I agree with others, those last few lines, burn holes in ones heart... freezer burns...

So many great lines in this one Jacob - and the last two absolute perfection. A keeper for me :) Julie

There is no joy, not even the sun brings warmth to a heart frozen in time with the regret, pain and longing of lost love. You are the director of your own motion picture company-in words Jacob.

I find myself without words when I read this. I feel as if I learn something new from your poetry every time I read it. Seasons Tug-of-War is a relationship of hellos and goodbyes. Exhilarating and bittersweet. Always a pleasure Jacob.

This sounds like the Coming snow storm we might be getting Monday night. Oh winter can you leave us to spring?
