inflection's deflectionA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoinflection's deflection
i'm
declining, not your invitation, but my youthful
exuberance to jump into love
blindfold with both feet kicking
up a heart's dust
lying in a puddle of
years no longer wet behind the
ears i have felt inclination to declination my emotional bones
bruised enough so,
i'm declining and reclining in my
Dorian Gray easy chair a painting of who i was
long ago you can look, but please don't touch
there is still some wet
paint from the tears and i've lifted the
blindfold just enough
to see you coming.
