The fourth grade teacher told my husband's mother Jane, "I cannot determine if your son Roger is a leader or a follower". Jane inquired of Roger,
"Are you a leader or a follower"? Roger replied, "It depends on who the Leader is at the time". A brilliant answer! 🌠
A Star is born!
In the schools I attended, classmates viewed too much "participation" as collaboration with the enemy. What saved me--and a lot of other kids--was love of reading.
Must hasten to add that I was also blessed with a couple of amazing teachers who actually managed to teach; didn't endlessly bore our ignorant asses off by reminding us how ignorant we were.
Insightful work, Jacob!

Brilliant j! We all need to participate faculty included. Be active in the sharing of knowledge, we need to encourage inquiry, not be opposed to questioning and challenging of ideas etc, this is what makes teaching and learning purposeful. Watch the eyes light up! R xo

Ah that gives me great hope for Curtis, when I hear you say such things.
Hi Erin, I lost my password a year ago, just rejoined. Not sure if you will remember me.
The poem, yes I've been to lectures like that, the one that drone. Very good.

Indeed the world fails to learn from its errors and none of us appear to have comprehended the lecture even if we avidly follow the news reports Jacob.
Yes, yes, YES! The finest teacher I've ever had, schools, college and uni.. was an elderly temp at our convent school. If side-tracked by a question, he'd pickup a small alarm clock. put it in a drawer.. then answer whatever the comment had been. That way, we were kept on our seats and toes.. needing to return to whatever had been the 'lesson'. Looking back I rather think he was more psychologist than teacher.. or both!
Not sure that is what you mean in your poem, but have cer4tainly been reminded
Your words are so often veiled in mystery. Do you accidentally or deliberately layer your thoughts, Jacob? Not being rude, just wondering..

Am apt to do the same, Jacob, but, never can or ever will reach the range of your skills.
