A clever write full of substance J, the feeling of being desirable in our own minds but are we just being tricked that we are desirable. Ego's play a part in this interlude.
This made me smile, Jacob. You are a "spry" one! Those treasured moments when we feel desirable...certainly worth writing about! This piece is vulnerable and sweet. I am visiting to read your work and hopefully get a little fire in my soul to write. I am in a stale place...usually happens in winter. ;)

You have captured the feeling that one has as the winter of life collides head on with spring or summer. Ah, how refreshing is the breath of fresh air, the burst of sunshine bathing one in memories of yesterday when perhaps a special smile, or tip of the hat makes the day of another!
I like this Jacob......and can certainly relate to how wonderful it feels to be noticed, even when the gray hair is tousled by the winds of advancing age, and wrinkles are those that have perhaps partially taken residence on the form of yesterday's child from too much sunshine, and frolicking in those days -but what a way to get them......LOL

Hey, even though we are not spring chickens, getting a wink or a whistle from the opposite sex can take years off. Still, in the alone times, we know we are not what we once were. Sad write....but so true. Lydi**

thank you for that image, Paul....i think i can see her...and she smiles as she passes you.
i love that first verse ...putting it up on my bathroom mirror to remind myself of truthfulness and not to take myself too seriously when i am winking in the streets :}
and i love the second verse ..she pauses and blesses the old man when genuine grace and affection (i will always see it that way;)
but i am the optimist ..so the sad reality i will not accept ... i will tuck this one away in hopes of another brief pause on another corner ... or maybe in Walmart :)))))))))))))))))
what can i say ..i'm an old man and allowed such things.....right?! great poem, wonderful language ...clear honesty ...all good says i!
