flared threads of reminiscence

flared threads of reminiscence

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

flared threads of reminiscence

my jeans are frayed convictions

the holes are weary repercussions

of a worn out life,

but not empty of smiles

in the pockets i hold many keepsake secrets

of times well spent

in denim diatribe

writing sinewy verse

i have lived

closeness shared like adjectives connected to nouns

adverbs to adjectives

and such related realms of memory

put to pen,

the blue becomes faded

the more life gets washed out

but the jeans fit more comfortably

the older i get.

Was my pleasure and you are welcome.
In the pockets of my favorite old worn out denims....oh, the secrets and memories that are held there! Yes, we grow into our jeans....we stand a little taller in them as we mature. We have seen a lot and experienced a lot and those adjectives just don't bother us as much anymore. I like the metaphor a lot, Jacob. GO DOLPHINS! :) Lydi**

Knew they would blow it!
I love the metaphor here for we are like Jeans and as we get older we become more comfortable with ourselves.

Funny how important denim jeans can be. When I stopped working for the National Health Service, where I had to wear smart clothing-suit, shirt and tie etc-I started wearing jeans, short sleeved open neck shirts and a jacket as a charity director and it felt liberating. I wear jeans most of the time for their comfort and durability. Thanks be to cowboys! Well captured analogy Jacob as it also has a true sense to it!

You know J people would pay insane amounts of money for your jeans! Some things just get better with age, living verse in denim. Some amazing lines as well. I enjoyed this and thank you always for your generosity on my writing. It is appreciated. Starz x

Love the the use of the jeans in this piece. Amazing how some things may look old never feel old or get better with age as you wash and put your own life into them. A story a pair a jeans will tell... LOVE it!!!

I have a very old pair of jeans, frayed, holes at both knees and so faded it is a stretch to call them blue denim... I love these jeans, their comfort and fit and all the memories and smiles and well as a few mistakes hidden within the pockets...

but, I love your jeans even better Jacob, I think it was the closeness, connections of nouns, adjectives and adverbs of sinewy verse that convinced me... and no repercussions were allowed in this decision... ;0)

Jacob, it was just a flat out cool poem...

Another excellent poem, Jacob.

This made me think of the 70's.....the age of denim and flares. I really enjoy the metaphors and the idea of carrying around our memories in the pocket of those jeans. And as we age those jeans lose their sense of youth; they rip, they fade, they are worn down by the happenings of our lifetime, yet they remain durable and steadfast and always with us.

Brilliant, as always.
