as the hungry birds walk belowA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
high
rise lovers palms refusing to
encircle another's as they try to hold
hands with God
security, an apartment
jettisoned into a sky filled with green, a lonely existence of
counterfeit bills
to pay for the solemn
oath the marriage words said to a fat wallet with that "kiss the
bride" formality when others are starving
in the streets
for love for a few comforting
words & a bit of rice thrown into winsome wind.
