gray feathers

 

 

once had an enormous wingspan

now merely a shortened lifespan 

and the flying is all in my mind

not the reality kind.

I have felt my wingspan going down considerably. Now there are hardly any mornings when I wake up ready to soar the skies. You are lucky to be still flying, even if only in the mind.

awwwwwwww ... what a kind of sweet sorrow poem for me .. first line gave me pictures of those great Grey Crowned Cranes of Africa as well as a more common Sand hill Cranes of the Midwest USA ..so i was absolutely soaring ... but reality strikes .. but i can always fly in my mind ..your poem gave it to me just now! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :)
