a January outing

a January outing

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a January outing

epiphany's coming

but not a Jesus thing

or a Wise-Man thing

or some crazy brilliant star in the sky

more like a mind on hallucinogens

speeding toward some distant light

a North Star deliverance

from a darkness of reason rising

dreams are comfortable

but my pajamas have holes in the feet

makes me wear boots and gloves

and wish for a return of sense

and love.

or maybe warmer feet

to curl up against another's

when the snow starts falling again.

Its nice to have someone to share together, we cannot live on bread alone! we look to the stars for some a wish to come true!

The longing for companionship in this one is strong. A return of sense? I often wonder if that is even possible in this world. Lydi**

An epiphany need not always be some grand revelation on the brilliant stars in the sky. It could be as simple a realization that I would gladly trade dreams for a sensible reality full of warmth and love. Much appreciated...

You are welcome Jacob
A touch wistful, yet with a bit of an edge; in the hands of a lesser writer, that probably doesn't work at all, but you pull it off with nary a bobble.

Can't get much for a dollar these days ...especially when all ya got is a nickel. Back when I looked in mirrors I guess it seemed they always broke and peeps didn't often get near enough to know what was me and what was just them. Cold feet was the way of life.

Just what I needed , something to make me smile on this wet and windy winter day. Not just cold feet Jacob, ears and noses too. Valentine

This work captured my attention from the very start. Specifically, the verse "dreams are comfortable but my pajamas have holes in the feet" I had a ponderous adventure within the realms of my mind after reading that. This holds a very deep meaning and it’s versatile. Enjoyable read.
