the picture is crooked

the picture is crooked

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the picture is crooked

the plaster is chipping and cracking

pieces falling to a welcoming, understanding floor

yet my heart is nailed over the secrets

behind the wall i built so many years ago

i can hardly remember

why i am standing in this room

and why it was ever my favorite.

A marvelous punch at the end Jacob. Your writing always touches me and causes me to think. That's a good thing! ~Sharon

thank you for your kind words, Sharon.

oooh I like this Jacob. And yes that happens doesn't it ... you close the door, you shut things out, you don't speak, keep the silence, wrap yourself up in your own veil of darkness ... and then, you stop, look around and wonder how the heck you got to that point in your life ...

This is very insightful and clever - really like it X

yes, you do wonder...that damn plaster...
thank you for your words, KWP...

I find it sad standing in an empty room, saying goodbye to a house . Letting go has never been my strong suit, but I like the "painting" you gave this.

It isn't often we make amends with rooms we create, and amending comfort is so very difficult.

time has removed all of yesterday's good times leaving you in an empty shell, hollow that once offered so much more. What was home is now just bricks and mortar!
