Just like having a first date with a potential life partner.
The two share a meal and part ways knowing that if they overcome their own isolation and take another chance their love could blossom into a life long romance.
Excellent use of comparisons with the polar opposite seasons of winter and summer.

I really love the juxtaposition of summer and winter in this poem and how the feelings of each season come together during a meal. I loved how that meal took on another meaning as memory for a special time. It makes me think of a taboo meeting. Once again, another excellent write.
WOW....a rendezvous of a married woman and her would-be lover? The weather metaphor is splendid. I could picture them having a meal and hoping for more. Good one, Jacob. Lydi**
I seem to:remember a very old ballad that said "Fortune comes to those that wait".
Your poem seems to say "As long as you don't have to wait too long"
