sorry's deception

sorry's deception

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

sorry's deception

the list includes

antiquated knowledge,

past indiscretions happened

perhaps the present is filled with repercussions

every coin has two sides, every action a reaction

and every insensitive moment

finds a touch of the heart,

even years removed

scanning the list

includes recognition

contrition

and omission

some things are too hard to remember

or too hard to forget

but we do neither, really,

because conscience will always keep track

even if we never write it into a poem

the verse

is converse

for what we cannot

reverse.

The human condition....we say we are sorry if we care about someone's feelings, but more often than not, we do the same thing again. Still, in the middle of the night when we are alone with only ourselves and our consciences, we know the truth...even if we don't want to admit it. You make us think, Jacob. Well written. Lydi**

Well said Jacob. Love the spinnerette at the end - almost sounded rap-like - God forgive me!

once the carpet is laid, no matter how many layers we may apply or replace, we always remember the old carpet! we sow what we lay!

In plain truth, stunning. A sad reality of human action-repurcussion dilemma. Every one needs to read this. The tone is inevitably captivating.

Such clever use of words. I imagine this spoken out loud, maybe as part of a play. Has a modern Shakespearean feel.

Hello jacob,

This sounds more like unforgiveness to me... or perhaps a sorry loser.

Happy holidays

I had a conversation like this before where a really bad thing happened to me. I talked with someone who was involved with it and I could not help bringing up the event, not to make anyone feel bad, but because it was a significant moment in my life and that significant moment had consequences that cannot be reversed with apologies and forgiveness.

I love that this poem captures that experience for me and an important part of forgiving, which does not necessarily mean forget or that the results of actions are fixed.
