the foundation withstood

the foundation withstood

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the foundation withstood

tremors were felt,

seismic activity,

skin tingling

heart pounding comfortably

we brushed against the quake

and then the stillness returned

a regretful calm

that almost made me feel

i only imagined you.

We lived near the San Madrid fault in Arkansas, when it happened the windows and dishes would rattle and scare the heck out of me. Even the tremors are eerie. Valentine

in a literal sense, yes, we live on a fault line in southern illinois and often experience these...
Thanks J.

I had been there once when earth was shaking. While on bed at first felt like a ghost trying to topple me. Looked below, heard some cries and yes at first I just imagined about her and then gathered all courage and somehow escaped the destructive site.
