the foundation withstood

the foundation withstood

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the foundation withstood

tremors were felt,

seismic activity,

skin tingling

heart pounding comfortably

we brushed against the quake

and then the stillness returned

a regretful calm

that almost made me feel

i only imagined you.

On this rollercoaster of life, we can be elated, fearful, or confused. But then we return to "nomality" (whatever that may be).
Your metaphors are so wide ranging, Jacob, that they have a significance for eveyone.

thank you for your kind review, Norman,

When "normalcy" returns, it hardly seems possible the Great Upheaval had occurred.
But she moved you--and not all the silence on earth will ever truly convince you otherwise.
A stunning bit of work, Jacob!

yes, the movement feels good to have, even if it stops suddenly...it was there.

man, this is haunting. Such a ghostly image of love. The foundation, shaken by the very thought. Always a BIG fan this free style form, keep it up!

The beginning is always a tingle away form bliss...time brings a calmness that few understand as love... until it's gone.
Good write, j.

thank you, Ted.

It is, in the final analysis, the stillness we need to fear. Tightly drawn, but has all of your trademark wordplay and emotional punch.

Sometimes the period we shared with a lost love can feel like a lifetime ago.

mmm, often so...in this case...there may be hope.
thank you, corset.

One reads this according to thought... and mood. Reality weather, reality relationship. Whichever, there can be intense tremors; whichever they can scar the mind and more.

Gread words that leave their footprints - as ever.

Thought provides a warm blanket year-long, jacob!
This is my favourite poem of yours. It feels loaded, am reading it as good sex in a relationship that's drifting apart so I'm probably well off but even so

Now that's some kind of seismic activity there, Jacob :) As long as the foundation's good...rebuilding is a possibilty.
